University
About the University
The Maritime University of Szczecin educates a professional workforce – navigators, mechanics, and electro-automation specialists (in accordance with modern standards and the requirements of the global fleet), as well as sectors such as IT, geodesy, and TSL (transport-forwarding-logistics), with a special focus on the maritime industry. Students not only acquire valuable knowledge but also develop practical skills throughout their studies. Companies cooperating with the university often support our students with scholarship programs, provide internships and paid placements, and subsequently offer employment in the profession after graduation. Our engineers are versatile specialists who find their place in many industries, not just those related to the maritime economy – they are also IT specialists, surveyors, and transport experts.
Why study at the Maritime University of Szczecin?
Education Quality
The Maritime University of Szczecin holds Certificates of Recognition for Maritime Educational Institutions in terms of compliance with the educational process requirements of the STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) Convention, which defines the requirements for the training of seafarers. This means that graduates of the Maritime University can obtain a maritime diploma and work as officers on ships anywhere in the world. Furthermore, all fields of study (both maritime and land-based) conducted at the university, which were verified by the Polish Accreditation Committee, received positive evaluations.
The university emphasizes practical education. During their studies, our students undertake internships at sea and on land (depending on the chosen field).
Modern Teaching Equipment
Thanks to its ongoing efforts and achievements, the university has become a highly valued educational and scientific resource for the maritime economy of the region and the country. Within the structure of the Maritime University, there are also training centers and research facilities, such as: the Officer Training Improvement Center, the Maritime Rescue Training Center, the Marine Training Center in Kołobrzeg, and the research and training ship m/s Nawigator XXI. The outfitting of the newly constructed Floating Object Operations Center (CEOP) is nearing completion, alongside which the construction of another modern complex – the Polish Maritime Rescue Training Center – has begun. Equipped with the most advanced simulators and laboratories, all these facilities successfully support the training of students and officer staff, as well as scientific research. To attract partners and best utilize its potential, we have established the Marine Technology Transfer Center, aimed at commercializing the research results of Maritime University scientists, and the Maritime University Innovation Center – a special-purpose company designed to connect science and business.
