Q: 4. Deliver documents to our university

Once your application is granted the status: "Qualified for admission", the final step of the admission application is to deliver your original application documents to the Maritime University of Szczecin. You will be given precise information from us about the date by which the documents should arrive at our University. In addition to submitting the originals of all documents previously attached as scans, you will be required to provide 2 pieces of your photograph and produce your passport. Geoinformatics

During the programme, students will gain hands-on experience with modern measurement techniques including advanced digital photogrammetry and remote sensing. You’ll master spatial data analysis, multimedia cartography, geodata fusion, and applications of virtual reality. Courses also focus on programming (scripting languages and web-based applications), as well as the use of professional GIS tools. Students will be trained in digital processing, analysis, and visualisation of both hydro and geospatial data using cutting-edge software and equipment.

Duration of studies:

1.5 years (3 semesters), including a total of 960 hours of classes, encompassing lectures, laboratories, and project work.

Specializations

Geoinformatics. The curriculum includes modern measurement techniques such as digital photogrammetry, remote sensing, and advanced spatial analysis.

Graduates earn the degree of Master of Engineering, equipping them to work across various sectors, including geodesy, architecture, construction, as well as in governmental and research institutions.

Our students acquire valuable skills sought after in the job market, preparing for careers in areas like smart city development, archaeological research, and modern measurement technologies.

A graduate of the Geoinformatics master’s programme is a highly qualified interdisciplinary specialist equipped with advanced knowledge and practical skills in spatial data processing, analysis, and visualisation. They are proficient in the use of modern geoinformation technologies, programming, GIS tools, remote sensing, and 3D modelling, and are capable of solving complex real-world problems. Thanks to a solid understanding of both geospatial sciences and IT, they are prepared to work independently or in international, cross-sectoral teams within the geoinformatics, surveying, construction, environmental, or research industries.

Entry requirements

Meeting the following basic criteria is obligatory for all applicants:

holding a previous education certificate/diploma giving the candidate a right to apply for admission to a selected cycle of higher education:

upper secondary school leaving certificate – giving its holder a right to apply for admission to undergraduate higher education programmes in the country in which he or she completed their secondary school or which may give the holder such right in Poland on the basis of an administrative decision or an international agreement, or
undergraduate diploma granting access to graduate higher education programmes in the country in which its holder completed his/her education.

submitting all necessary application documents including:

a document confirming the fluency in English at B2 level (for programmes delivered in English) or a document confirming the fluency in Polish at B2 level (for programmes delivered in Polish).
In case of candidates applying to sea-going degree programmes, a Medical Certificate for Service at Sea/ Medical Fitness Certificate for Seafarers compliant with STCW and MLC 2006.

3. Entrance examination and recognition of your credentials

If you are applying for admission to a Bachelor’s degree programme and you completed your secondary education in a country other than a member state of the European Union, OECD, EFTA, Ukraine, China your admission will only be possible if you meet all of the following conditions:

1. all the required application documents have been submitted
2. a document certifying your proficiency of the language of instruction at B2 level: Polish or English has been submitted
3. you have successfully passed ENTRANCE EXAM to our university
4. your secondary education qualification has been formally recognised by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange in Warsaw (more information HERE)

Language requirements

To study in the Maritime University of Szczecin you are required to know Polish or English language at B2 level (for programmes with Polish or English language as the language of instruction respectively).

Disclaimer: the above lists are based on the draft Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 9 May 2025 on the types of documents certifying proficiency in the language of instruction. The Regulation is expected to be passed by 18 JULY 2025. Until then, the Maritime University of Szczecin is not in a position to provide definite information on which language documents can be taken into account in the 2025/2026 admissions process and cannot be held accountable for any changes thereof.

Studying in English language

Currently, Maritime University of Szczecin delivers only few degree courses in English language (they are highlighted in the above PDF file). Please, pay attention to the fact that the price for EU citizens and holders of the Polish Card is greatly reduced as they are treated equally with Polish citizens. Foreigners from outside the European Union who are not holders of the Polish Card have to pay the full tuition fee.

Additional costs for students of the seagoing programs

Students of Navigation, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Inland Shipping have to pay extra for International Medical Certificate for service at Sea: approx. PLN 400 (approx. EUR 90) which is valid for 1 or 2 years depending on the doctor’s decision, and for the Seaman’s registration book: EUR 50 which is a one-time fee. These fees are paid in external institutions, i.e. a medical clinic and the Maritime Office in Szczecin.

Studying in Polish language

Basically, foreign students studying in Poland in Polish language need to pay for their education. However, there are exceptions that exempt from tuition fees the following groups of foreigners studying full-time programmes

The citizens of the European Union (EU)
Holders of the Polish Card (PL: Karta Polaka)
Foreigners who passed the State Certificate Examination in Polish as a Foreign Language at minimum C1 level – examinations held by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language.

If you do not belong to one of these groups, you will have to pay for studying at MUS. However, the tuition fees charged by the Maritime University are not high. MUS is a state university which means that, similarly to non-profit organisations, its offer is not strictly commercial.

The annual fees charged by our University depend on the programme (sea-going programmes are more expensive than other, non-sea-going degree courses), the level of study (the undergraduate level is usually more expensive than graduate level as it takes 7 to 8 semesters, whereas graduate level takes only 3 to 4 semesters) and the mode of study (you always have to pay for the part-time programmes but the annual tuition fee depends on your status).
