Inżynieria Mechaniczna

Program Inżynierii Mechanicznej przygotowuje studentów do zarządzania, diagnozowania i obsługi sprzętu typowo używanego w maszynowniach statków. To zapewnia naszym absolwentom szeroki wachlarz możliwości kariery, od pracy jako członkowie załogi na statkach po zatrudnienie w firmach zajmujących się naprawą i konserwacją. W trakcie studiów studenci zdobywają kompetencje w zakresie obsługi i konserwacji morskich elektrowni.

Czas trwania studiów:

1,5 roku (3 semestry).

Specjalizacja:

Budowa i eksploatacja morskich systemów energetycznych.

Studenci zdobywają wiedzę w zakresie przygotowywania, zarządzania i przeprowadzania remontów urządzeń energetycznych, przemysłowych i chłodniczych. Uczą się zasad pracy zespołowej, standardów obsługi technicznej oraz nadzoru ze strony towarzystw klasyfikacyjnych i organów nadzoru technicznego. Dodatkowo rozwijają umiejętności koordynacji zadań związanych z obsługą sprzętu oraz wsparcia prac projektowych w prostych zadaniach inżynieryjnych.

Program specjalny dla marynarzy

Jeśli jesteś marynarzem pracującym na morzu, ale nie masz wystarczająco dużo czasu na regularne studia magisterskie, możesz zapisać się na nasze studia magisterskie w trybie zaocznym z zakresu Inżynierii Mechanicznej. Studia te prowadzone są od poniedziałku do soboty przez 10 kolejnych tygodni, a reszta roku pozostaje wolna, abyś mógł kontynuować swoją karierę. Sprawdź opłatę za studia, ponieważ różni się ona od programu stacjonarnego. Wymagane dokumenty dla programu magisterskiego w trybie zaocznym są takie same jak dla programu stacjonarnego.

Profil absolwenta:

Absolwenci otrzymują tytuł Magistra Inżyniera i są przygotowani do kreatywnego uczestnictwa w zespołach badawczych i wdrożeniowych, firmach zajmujących się infrastrukturą nawigacyjną oraz administracji odpowiedzialnej za procesy transportowe.

Pomimo rozwoju autonomicznych systemów transportowych, automatyzacji sprzętu energetycznego i wdrożenia technologii opartych na sztucznej inteligencji, potrzeba konserwacji tych urządzeń pozostaje kluczowa. W skrócie, ktoś musi umieć naprawiać ten sprzęt.

Kompetencje zdobyte w trakcie studiów mogą być stosowane w różnych sektorach gospodarki, od przemysłu morskiego po sektory energetyczne i górnicze. Osobisty i zawodowy rozwój, zmiany w klimacie gospodarczym oraz inne czynniki zewnętrzne mogą prowadzić do awansów i zmian w miejscu pracy, ale wiedza i umiejętności zdobyte podczas studiów będą nadal istotne.

Program MEng zapewnia szkolenie na poziomie menedżerskim, umożliwiając absolwentom uzyskanie certyfikatu drugiego oficera inżynieryjnego po dodatkowym szkoleniu i zdaniu egzaminu.

Entry requirements

There are no entry examination in Maritime University of Szczecin.

Meeting the following basic criteria is obligatory for all applicants:

  • Must hold a previous education certificate giving him/her a right to apply for admission to a selected cycle of higher education:
  • Upper secondary school leaving certificate giving its holder a right to apply for admission to 1st cycle (undergraduate) higher education programmes in the country in which he or she completed secondary school or which may give the holder such right in Poland on the basis of an administrative decision or an international agreement.
  • 1st cycle (undergraduate) diploma granting access to 2nd cycle (graduate) higher education programmes in the country in which its holder completed his/her education.
  • Must submit all necessary application documents (the list of them is available on this webpage: apply.marine-edu.com, including:
  • Document confirming the fluency in English at B2 level (for programmes delivered in English) or a document confirming the fluency in Polish at B1 level (for programmes delivered in Polish).
  • In case of candidates applying to sea-going degree programmes, a Medical Certificate for Service at Sea/ Medical Fitness Certificate for Seafarers compliant with STCW and MLC 2006.
  • Must pay the admission fee (PLN 85)

Legal basis for admissions of international candidates: MUS Rector’s Order No 6/2024 on detailed conditions, procedure and date of commencement and termination of international admissions in the academic year 2023/2024 (document in Polish language).

Learn Polish!

Candidates who are granted preliminary admission to our university can particiapate in our one-month summer course of the Polish language (140 hours). The course is dedicated only to candidates to our University whose Polish language proficiency is at least at A1 level. It is an intensive course which supports individual learning towards a B1 exam. Intensive classes are scheduled 5 days a week for an average of 6 hours per day.

Summer course of the Polish language

BASIC INFORMATION:

  • classes: 140 hours (1 hour lesson = 45 minutes)
  • time: 20 August – 24 September 2024

  • level: mandatory entry level  at least  A1,  expected output level A2/B1

DETAILS:

The course is dedicated only to persons admitted to the Maritime University of Szczecin as first year students. It is an excellent opportunity to meet new fellow students.

The course consists of 140 hours of classes over the period of one month. According to the Polish education system, each class hour lasts for 45 minutes. Classes are held from Monday to Friday, 6 hours a day on average.

The curriculum includes Polish grammar and vocabulary, classes dedicated to developing spoken and written communication skills as well as listening and reading. The course also includes vocabulary related to marine profession, transport, logistics, and exact sciences, such as maths and physics. Classes are taught by qualified and experienced teachers.

PRICE

The total cost of the course is PLN 1800. The price includes costs of teaching materials. It does not include accomodation costs. 

ACCOMMODATION 

Accommodation is possible for course participants in our Student Campus (dormitories KORAB and PASAT) at about 20PLN per day. 

HOW TO REGISTER?

Candidates with prelimiary admission who would like to take a Polish language course should complete the following steps:

  • Pay the required amount to the account you will receive in an email from our university. The course fee is has to be paid before the start of the course. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

The proposed course is meant as supplementary aid to students’ autonomous language learning and does not prepare the participants to a B1 exam (it only brings them to A2/B1 level). Therefore, we encourage all participants to study Polish language independently – to invest in a good dictionary, watch Polish movies, or listen to Polish music.

EXAM

The exam is obligatory for all international students who are not able to submit any of the documents we accept as proofs of Polish language proficiency (e.g. a state certificate confirming their proficiency in the Polish language or graduation diploma from a school with Polish languge of instruction). 

The exam will be held on 26 (written part) and 27 (oral part) September  2024. The retake exam will be carried out between 14-18 October 2024.

Application step by step

1. Collect the required documents

If you have already chosen your programme, the first step you should take is to prepare your application documents. The list of them depends, among others on your citizenship and the chosen programme. To find out which documents are required in your case, click on the link to our generator of the list of required application documents. It is a simple form with eight questions. After answering and approving them, you will get a list of attachments required in your situation along with a description of how to prepare them.

DOCUMENTS

Please note that if you click on the description of the selected programme, than at the very bottom of the description you will also find a link to the above generator but with fewer questions. It is just because in this case you will not have to answer questions about your chosen programme.

2. Complete the online application form

The next step is to complete the online application form in our admission system.

But before you start to fill it in, you need to prepare:

  • Good quality scans of your documents (attachments) referred to in step 1
    Please note that if your tailor-made list of required documents includes e.g. 3 documents, then you should prepare 3 files (e.g. secondary school leaving certificate and its translation should be attached in one file). One file can be a maximum of 20 MB.
  • Your photo in JPG or PNG format.
    The maximum size of your photo is 5 MB. The minimum size of the photo is 236px x 295px. The photo should be the same as for the passport / ID card.

After entering the online admission system, you must register your account . The e-mail address you provide during registration is very important, because to this address we will send you notifications about any mistakes or gaps in your application, and notifications about the change in the status of your application.

After registering your account provide all the data required in the admission system . The online admission system will guide you through all stages divided into smaller steps. Among others, you will have to provide your personal data, choose the programme, define your legal status and complete a questionnaire in which you will provide us with information about how you learned about our offer. Then you will be redirected to the page where you can pay the application fee.

Remember that at this stage:

You must download admission application, print it, sign it, scan it and attach it in the online admission system, in the same place as the other scans of your documents.

You must complete your grades in the admission system , if you have not already done so. To do this, click in the top left corner on “My applications”, and then on the “Add grades” icon.

You must attach scans of your documents. Being logged in to the online admission system, click again in the top left corner on “My applications”, and then on the “Attachments” icon.

3. Pay the application fee

The application fee is PLN 85, i.e. about EUR 20. Payment of the application fee may be carried out in two ways:

  1. IN THE ADMISSION SYSTEM – the online payment option can be found in the top left corner in the “Receivables” section, where you can click on the link “pay online”.
  2. TRADITIONAL BANK TRANSFER – transfer details:

If you decide to make a traditional bank transfer, please note that we will verify your online application form only after receiving the transfer at our bank. 4. Deliver documents to our university

The final stage of the admissions is the delivery of application documents to the Maritime University of Szczecin.

If you are applying for a degree programme delivered in English you do not need to provide us with paper documents at the admission application stage, but they will be required immediately after your arrival in Poland.

If you are applying for a degree programme delivered in Polish, at the admission stage you must provide the required documents online by uploading them in the admission system. The complete set of hard copy documents will only be required if you are selected for admission. You will be informed about the deadline for delivering these documents in an email we will send to you after the admission process.

NOTE: If you live nearby Poland and apply for a short-term visa in order to come to Poland during the admissions period, than the certificate of participation in the admissions at the Maritime University in Szczecin you will obtain in the International Students & Mobility Office. Before that, however, you must:

  • Complete the online application form in the admission system,
  • Attach in the online admission system at least the scan of the secondary school leaving certificate (or a first-cycle diploma)
  • Pay the application fee.

Annual fees:

Studying in English language

Currently, Maritime University of Szczecin delivers only few degree courses in English language (they are highlighted in the above PDF file). Please, pay attention to the fact that the price for EU citizens and holders of the Polish Card is greatly reduced as they are treated equally with Polish citizens. Foreigners from outside the European Union who are not holders of the Polish Card have to pay the full tuition fee.

Additional costs for students of the seagoing programs

Students of Navigation, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Inland Shipping have to pay extra for International Medical Certificate for service at Sea: approx. PLN 400 (approx. EUR 90) which is valid for 1 or 2 years depending on the doctor’s decision, and for the Seaman’s registration book: EUR 50 which is a one-time fee. These fees are paid in external institutions, i.e. a medical clinic and the Maritime Office in Szczecin.

Studying in Polish language

Basically, foreign students studying in Poland in Polish language need to pay for their education. However, there are exceptions that exempt from tuition fees the following groups of foreigners studying full-time programmes

  • The citizens of the European Union (EU)
  • Holders of the Polish Card (PL: Karta Polaka)
  • Foreigners who passed the State Certificate Examination in Polish as a Foreign Language at minimum C1 level – examinations held by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language.

If you do not belong to one of these groups, you will have to pay for studying at MUS. However, the tuition fees charged by the Maritime University are not high. MUS is a state university which means that, similarly to non-profit organisations, its offer is not strictly commercial.

The annual fees charged by our University depend on the programme (sea-going programmes are more expensive than other, non-sea-going degree courses), the level of study (the undergraduate level is usually more expensive than graduate level as it takes 7 to 8 semesters, whereas graduate level takes only 3 to 4 semesters) and the mode of study (you always have to pay for the part-time programmes but the annual tuition fee depends on your status).

Studies free of charge or at a lower tuition fee rate

For whom?

  • foreigners who have been granted a permanent residence permit in Poland;
  • oreigners who have been granted a refugee status in Poland;
  • foreigners who have been granted a temporary protection in Poland;
  • foreigners who are migrating workers and nationals of the EU, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway or Lichtenstein or family members of such workers and who reside in Poland;
  • foreigners who have been granted a European Community long-term residence permit;
  • foreigners who have been granted a temporary residence permit in Poland with regard to situations laid down in Art. 127 (a temporary stay permit to perform work in a profession requiring high qualifications), Art. 159.1 (a temporary stay permit to reunite with one’s family) or Art. 186.1.3 or 186.1.4 (a European Community long-term residence permit issued by another EU member state or being a member of such resident) of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Aliens (Journal of Laws 2013 item 1650);
  • foreigners who have been granted a subsidiary protection in Poland;
  • foreigners who are nationals of an EU member state, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway or Lichtenstein and holders of a permanent stay permit;
  • foreigners holding a certificate of Polish language proficiency at level C1 issued by http://certyfikatpolski.pl
  • foreigners who are holders of the Polish Card (Karta Polaka) or who have been issued a decision confirming their Polish origin;
  • foreigners residing in Poland who are spouses, ascendants (i.e. parents/grandparents) or descendants (i.e. children/ grandchildren) of a Polish citizen.
